In the year 1997 China ended the British colonial rule over Hong Kong and made it a separate territory for which its foreign relationships and defense are China’s responsibilities. Hong Kong, however, has control over it’s own economy with which it has done great things with. (1) Thousands of U.S. transactions go through Hong Kong every day. Hong Kong has always been a major stop on trade routes. (2). Hong Kong is a very active player in counterterrorism as well and is an important player in the funding. (1). |  |
